Featured Work

Seafarmers occupy a very special place in our heart… and so does their project. We started working with the Aquaculture Association of Nova Scotia as soon as we opened our doors in 2011. The Association supports small to medium sized aquaculture operators and suppliers. They work for the little guys and advocate for a misunderstood industry.

Seafarmers.ca was more than a job for us. Seafarmers became our friends and our family. The campaign made our phone ring early on in our business. We are where we are today because of our work with the Association. Much love and many thanks.

Wind4All is the CEDIF (community economic development investment fund) sponsored by Natural Forces Wind. We build their brand and were team members on the most successful CEDIF in Nova Scotia history. March 1, 2013 Wind4All completed their funding raise. Almost 400 Nova Scotian investors (regular folks like you) raised 5.5 million dollars. We talk a lot about change and the greater good, Wind4All let us put our money were our mouth is… by helping Nova Scotians put their money were their mouths are… We believe Wind Turbines are beacons for the new world. We can be better.

Our Ben Caplan adventure began when Kristy was the 1000th person to ‘like’ his facebook page. He wanted something special for his first LP… then we brainstormed and listened to a lot of music and looked at a lot of Art. We ran a contest to find a talented painter who could capture Ben… we got entries from all over the country. That’s how we found Ambera Wellmann
Now they are both on their way to being superstars… we’re so proud.

Snow Island is no regular salmon farm. They are the ‘child’ of Loch Duart from across the pond in Scotland. (Loch Duart is recognized as one of, if not the, best salmon farm in the World. They are serious about fish.) Snow Island has put forward an absolutely new 4 farm rotation model. They have some of the lowest stocking densities in the business and use only non-GMO feed. The fallow their sites for 18 months. Their staff don’t feed fish… they love fish. They breathe fish. They whisper fish.

Kristy O’Leary

Lead Creative Strategist and Project Developer / Partner

Kristy O’Leary fancies herself a Prospector or a Futurist or both. The rationale; they are both dreamers. She hunts down innovative clients and amazing projects for the team to sink their teeth into. She loves all things renewable energy, technological innovation, social enterprise and Fine Art.

Kristy’s background is diverse. She completed degrees in Political Science (Carleton University) and Fine Art (I AM NSCAD!). The combination of these endevours is present in all of Napkins’ creative strategy work. She has worked in the NGO world, gallery World and corporate world. That’s why she decided to jump in and build Napkin Works.

In her spare time she is a proficient musician, passionate mystic, voracious reader and diligent skywatcher.

She loves her job and loves her clients and loves her team. Love it all!

Jason Ballantyne

Art Director / Designer

Jason Ballantyne lives and breathes for the next creative endeavour. Avid drawing and Photoshop art from an early age, as well as a passion for classic design acquired in college, drove him towards a career in being paid for his creativity. Regular freelancing at agencies in Halifax have seen him contribute work to many Nova Scotian institutions, as well as given him a taste for award-winning ad campaigns. However, early days in print shops have granted him with a knack for producing cool, tactile things from the ground up and an interest in every step of the process.

His self-initiated projects as Redline Creative have benefitted local musicians, cultural events and other local creatives. Now with more creative control than before, Jason’s knack for creative strategy, art direction and design grows stronger by the day at NapkinWorks, doing great work for great clients. Away from the desk, Jason enjoys planning trips, watching documentaries, drinking craft beer and motorcycling.

Matthew Morgan

Art Director / Cat Person

Matthew hails from St. John’s, Newfoundland but once he graduated from NSCAD and drank the Halifax Kool-Aid, he was here for life. Matt is passionate about many things. From his toys, to his shoes, to the amount of cat videos he can find on the internet, he has a strong spirit for what he loves, and that comes through in his work here. His passion has given him a wide variety of experience including small to large agencies as well as freelance for locally owned shoppes and international brands.

Matt loves robots. Like a lot. You should see his desk. Covered in them. His eccentricities are what gives him a fantastic sense of style and not too shabby sense of fashion. He spends his free time watching scary movies, playing video games, reading comic books and cuddling his handsome cat, Oliver. His favourite Star Wars character is R2-D2 (surprise) and if he were to be any animal in the world, he would be a Hyena because they’re always laughing about something. They also hang out around big cats. So there’s that.

Evan d’Entremont

Technical Lead

Evan has expertise in a wide range of information technology fields. He has been developing primarily in PHP and C++ for over eight years. Evan also has experience and expertise with several popular content management systems.

Evan believes the impossible is just a challenge, and will often develop things just because someone said it couldn’t be done.

Evan spends his spare time sending Kerbals to the Mün, and tearing things apart to see how they work. He is a founding member and vice-president of Halifax Maker Space, a local non-profit collaborative workspace.

Carly Murray

Project Manager / Partner

Carly, the former owner of Chipper studio is one of the newest additions to the napkin works team. Our relationship with Carly started two years ago as napkin works opened at the same time as her own company. Earlier this year the napkin works team and Carly decided it would be in everyone’s best interest to merge the two businesses and make her our project manager.  She brings with her a unique skill set of design savvy, business skills and most importantly the ability to get the job done, on budget and on time. Carly enjoys traveling, city life and when she’s not checking in with our clients you can usually find her at the beach, in the park or on a rainy day taking in a movie in a dark theatre.

Some of her past projects to note have been the creative and social media strategy for the community carrot co-op and the website for all ships rise in association with the chamber of commerce.

Our goal is to inspire and drive positive change
